Alvarez & Marsal Opens First African Office

Consultancy firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has launched its first African office in Cape Town, targeting the continent amid growing global interest in critical minerals used in defense, electronics, and the energy transition.

Critical Minerals and Investment Inflows

Competition for minerals between China and the West has turned attention toward resource-rich African states. A&M will support clients in infrastructure, energy, mining, and industrial sectors to develop plans and attract funds.

Growth Plans

The Cape Town office currently employs 20 staff, with plans to exceed 100 within three years. A&M's global infrastructure division comprises over 1,000 professionals, and the firm has nearly 15,000 members worldwide.

Efficiency and Execution Focus

Drawing on its experience in Brazil, A&M aims to address infrastructure inefficiencies and competency gaps in Africa. The firm emphasizes efficiency and execution rather than privatization.
