E.ON and atNorth Sign 200 MW Agreement

German energy firm E.ON's Swedish electricity distribution subsidiary has signed a 200-megawatt (MW) power connection agreement with Icelandic data centre company atNorth for an AI facility in northern Sweden.

Details of the Agreement

The 200 MW connection is one of E.ON's largest for a power-consuming customer. The agreement sets a timetable for the power connection, a critical requirement for energy-intensive AI and data centre projects.

Martin Höhler, CEO of E.ON's Swedish grid unit, said: 'Access to power and a robust electricity infrastructure are crucial as AI and data centres grow rapidly globally.'

Infrastructure Works

Under the agreement, E.ON will build a new transformer station and power line to connect the facility. Work is scheduled for completion ahead of atNorth's planned start-up of the facility in autumn 2028.
