Meta has started rolling out subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Meta Platforms has begun the rollout of subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The company announced earlier this year that it planned to offer subscriptions for its flagship apps, providing users with additional features.

A company spokesperson said on Wednesday that Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus will be priced at $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus will cost $2.99 per month.

Meta's head of product, Naomi Gleit, stated that subscriptions will include enhanced features for users and premium tools for businesses and creators. In a video on Instagram, Gleit said, "These subscription plans offer richer ways to express and connect across our apps with more fun features to be added."

Subscription tests will ramp up in the coming weeks. Gleit noted that the plans will build out capabilities for users of Meta AI, the company's artificial intelligence assistant. The rollout comes roughly a week after Meta announced it would lay off 10% of its workforce and reassign thousands of others to AI-focused roles.
