Oxygen Shortage Hinders Rescue of 7 Divers Trapped in Laos Cave

The leader of a Thai volunteer group assisting in the extraction of seven divers trapped in a cave in Laos stated on Thursday that additional oxygen tanks are required to complete the rescue mission. The seven Lao nationals entered the cave in central Laos's Xaisomboun province last week in search of gold, but a landslide caused by heavy rain blocked their exit.

Rescue Operation Update

At least five of the trapped divers have been located alive, but none have been rescued yet. Volunteer groups report differing numbers of survivors, with some claiming all seven have been found safe. The rescue effort involves Thai volunteers, including a diver who participated in the 2018 Thai cave rescue, and international support is being sought.

Efforts are underway to set up an oxygen refilling station near the cave entrance. The operation continues as authorities coordinate with local and international teams.
