NASA Aims to Boost Non-SpaceX Space Companies
NASA Invests in Non-SpaceX Space Companies
NASA appears interested in boosting smaller space companies outside of SpaceX, according to KeyBanc analyst Michael Leshock in a Wall Street Journal report. Earlier this week, NASA awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to non-SpaceX companies to support its plan of building a base on the Moon, fueling a rally across the sector.
Leshock stated that NASA wants 'to have two or three options if they're trying to build something out on the moon or launch something into low Earth orbit.' The agency is 'highly motivated to shift away from overreliance on any one company, and so I think that's kind of the opportunity for these smaller companies.'
NASA's Strategic Move
This move is seen as part of NASA's strategy to prevent monopolization in space exploration and increase competition. By encouraging more companies to contribute to space technologies, the agency aims to gain flexibility in achieving its long-term goals.
