Synopsys Adds Elliott Partner to Board
Synopsys Appoints Elliott Executive to Board
Chip-design software company Synopsys agreed to add Jesse Cohn to its board of directors as part of an agreement with activist investor Elliott Investment Management. Cohn, a managing partner at Elliott, will join the board on June 1.
Details of the Agreement
Synopsys' board will expand to 11 members with Cohn's addition. Under the agreement, Elliott has agreed to customary standstill, voting and confidentiality commitments. Cohn will serve on Synopsys' corporate governance and nominating committee.
Elliott's Strategy
Elliott had accrued a multibillion-dollar stake in Synopsys earlier this year. Cohn told The Wall Street Journal that Synopsys has a big opportunity due to rising AI demand, but could do more to make its financial performance reflect the value it delivers.
